Bardan says : "If not for his Lawful Evil status, Edwin would simply be in every party that makes its way through Baldur's Gate. He is an arrogant, self-centered, domineering, sarcastic mage, but man, is he one hell of a spellcaster! Take heed, though - he will not get on with Dynaheir or Minsc. At all. On top of his one extra spell per day that his conjurer class gives him, Edwin gets another spell per day due to his personal amulet. Before you get any ideas - no, you can't steal it for your main character. This makes him withut a doubt the best spellchucker in the game. An intelligence of 18 means he rarely fails to memorise a spell, and his specialist class has divination as an opposition school - hardly a great loss, as the most widely used divination spell is 'Identify', and a Bard can take care of that. His low strength would normally be a drawback, but not with a mage, as you're not going to be wearing any armour. Give Edwin some throwing daggers or darts, keep him at the back, and blast your enemies from afar! Should Edwin get caught in a tight spot, his 16 constitution means that he is more robust than your average wizard. If it is at all possible, take Edwin. He's worth two other characters.." |
