Bardan says : "First off, Xan gets no magic missile, and no fireball. Strikes one and two. However, apart from that glaring fault, Xan is not so bad a s a mage. 17 intelligence is good, meaning he will learn spells quite successfully. However, his main pull is that he owns a moonblade - a special sword only he can use, that grants fire resistance and an AC bonus. The problem? he is a mage with 7 constitution. if he gets hit once, he dies. Maybe melee isn't such a good idea, eh? Also, Xan is as depressing as hell. This is actually quite entertaining for a while, but the shine wears off quick. I wouldn't recommend Xan unless you're the type who loves 'Charm Person' and 'Dire Charm', and I will admit that they can be pretty good spells in Baldur's gate. Maybe a decent backup mage for neutral parties, but as he would say, "Why bother?" You certainly are doomed if you are relying on Xan to tip the scales in your favour, I think.." |
