Description

This is a warrior who is in tune with his animalistic side and, during combat, can achieve an ecstatic state of mind that will enable him to fight longer, harder and more savagely than any human has a right to. Berserkers tend to be barbarian-like in nature, but not always. Sometimes it is a conscious choice that a warrior in training makes. Regardless, opponents on the battlefield will be unsettled when they see the savage and inhuman elements of the berserker's personality. This class is common amongst dwarves, known to them as 'battleragers'..

Advantages:
- May use 'enrage' ability once per day per 4 levels. The enraged state lasts for 60 seconds.
- While enraged: +2 to hit, +2 damage, -2 AC
- While enraged: immune to charm, hold and fear, maze, imprisonment, stun and sleep
- While enraged: gains 15 hit points. These hit points are temporary, and are taken away at the end of his berserk spree, possibly killing the berserker

Disadvantages:
- Becomes winded after berserking.
- While he's winded he receives -2 to hit, -2 to damage and a +2 penalty to armor class.
- Cannot specialize in ranged weapons

Opinions

Bardan says : The Berserker is a nice fighter kit. All the advantages of a tank, plus the added bonus that he gets even tougher when raging. Also, he gains some very nice immunities in this state. Good for dual classing later on, this is also a very solid choice for just a straight fighter.

Go for a dwarf or HalfOrc for the constitution bonus. Every hitpoint counts!

Sir Exxon says : The absolute ultimate warriors. Not only are they just as good warriors as the pure Fighter, they also have the ability to Enrage. This ability is much better than the Barbarian-version, Rage. When we are comparing with the Barbarian, the Berserker’s lead is that he can use Plate Armours.

For full enjoyment, you should make your Berserker Half-Orc. Obviously because they can have 19 Strength.
I suggest that you use Flails and War Hammers as your main weapons. Giving you:
*** Flail
** War Hammer
* Two-Weapon Style
This is because then you can dual the Flail of Ages +3 (+5 if you have ToB), which deals out *much* damage, both Bludgeoning and Elemental. As for the War Hammer, you should im for the Crom Faeyr. Much damage here as well, not to mention that it boosts your Strength up to 25.

Ability rolls, try to get them somewhat like this:
19 Str
18 Dex
18 Con
5 Int
10 Wis
15 Cha
The Strength, Dexterity and Constitution are definitely what are important. Have these at max to get full damage, many Hit Points and a low AC. As long as these are maxed out, you have a very good warrior. Intelligence and Wisdom doesn’t matter at all. Have them as low as you want. Your extra points should be used in Charisma. The higher Charisma you have, the more discount you get at all stores.

There. These are all important qualities for me when I play as a Berserker. Try them out yourself, and enjoy!
