Where she is

Jaheira can be found in a prison cell next to yours at the start of the game.

Biography

When asked about her past, Jaheira glares as she speaks. She says that she was born in the Tethyr region to a loyalist of the King Alemander regime, unfortunately during the Tethyrian civil war. Her family was among the nobles targeted by the angry mobs of peasants, and she was only spared because a servant girl took her from their castle before it fell. An enclave of Druids in the forest of Tethyr was willing to grant shelter, and Jaheira grew up headstrong in their care. She believes the only way to protect nature is to have an active role in the world, but the cost of this dedication seems to weigh heavily on her mind these days.

She grows quiet when you ask about recent events, and while she gives the appearance of her normal, strong-willed self, there is a look of doubt in her eyes. It would seem that she has seen too many friends fall to remain unaffected. She does not like the subject, and lets it drop.

Special

Jaheira is a romance option for Human, Elf, Half-Elf and Halfling males.

Bardan says, "Ah, another polariser. People either love her or hate her, and Jaheira is undoubtedly one of the characters that encourages the most debate.

Her druid class is weak, to say the least, but is bolstered by the fact she is a multiclass fighter. Her choice of weapons is somewhat restricted, but she can wear heavy armour and can tank quite well when she is buffed and well-equipped. There are a great many options. Go for sword and shield style, and give her clubs like Blackblood along with powerful shields. Scimitars come in handy, and you could give her the Belm +2, which grants extra attacks. You could go for dual-weild, and use the Belm in the off-hand and a powerful club (Blackblood, Bone club) in the on-hand and gain the extra attack Belm grants. Still more options abound - give her staffs and 2-handed weapon proficiency and go for the elemental staffs, the Staff of Rhynn, and later on, the fearsome Staff of the Ram.

Her druid selection of spells gives her Ironskins, which you should use to buff her before fights (it's a druid-equivalent of stoneskin). She gets a nifty special spell - Harper's Call - which is her version of raise dead (the only druid who can do this). However, probably her greatest strength is that she can summon fire elementals. They last a long time, are powerful, and are one of the better summons in the game.

On the personality side, you'll either love her positive, 'take charge' demeanor, or hate her for her bossy and imperious nature. As she is a romance option, I recommend that you try her out at least once, though her romance is bugged to death if you don't install the patches (both official, and Baldurdash. She's not as good a Tank as a Fighter, and not as Good a Druid as, say, Cernd, but she strikes a nice balance between the two. I personally like her, but I don't pretend to think she's one of the more powerful NPC's in the game. She is not."
