Where she is

Mazzy is being held prisoner in the Shade Lord's dungeon

Biography

When asked about her past, Mazzy proudly states that she has spent numerous years adventuring around Amn with her other halfling comrades, basing out of her home town of Trademeet. The thought of Patrick and her other companions and their fates brings a shadow across her face, however. Mazzy is a dedicated servant of Arvoreen, the halfling goddess of war, and she resents the common perception by the bigger races that the stout folk cannot defend themselves or act with valor. If she could, Mazzy would be a paladin and battle against evil in Faerun with the full power of her goddess to aid her.

Special

Mazzy has her own quest - save her sister in Trademeet

Bardan says, "Ah, after the nutcase that is Korgan, Mazzy is a breath of fresh air. She is courageous, righteous, yet understanding and compassionate. She's a fighter with a high dexterity and mastery in shortbow, so she's a fantastic archer. Give her the Tuigan bow to start off with, then the Gesen Bow. She also is good with shortswords, so just take your pick. Her strength is not bad, but could probably benefit from a Belt of XXX Strength, seeing as she's a fighter.

Mazzy has a number of innate abilities. She has her own version of haste (Mazzy only), and Remove Fear. Use these liberally - they will save your ass on more than one occasion. Buff her up with the best Plate Armour you have, and send her in.

Personality wise, Mazzy gets on well with Valygar, even taking him on as her squire! This creates a bond between the two which results in one going hostile if the other does, so be nice to them! Generally, Mazzy is forthright and will not abide evil decisions. Korgan disgusts her.

All in all, Mazzy is one of the better, though less-used, NPCs in the game. Give her a try at least once. What have you got to lose?

NB - if there is interest, I will plonk altered Mazzy files up here. If you're a 3E advocate and can't see why Mazzy should be stuck as a fighter, then download the Paladin version. I have not yet decided what kit (if any) to give her, though."
